AKC Limited Registration
Your Happy Tail Companions puppy is guaranteed to be an AKC registered purebred Havanese. You will receive your pup's AKC limited registration papers at puppy pickup. .
As a responsible hobby breeder, our adopted puppies come with limited AKC registration, meaning he or she may not be used for breeding and must be spayed or neutered at the appropriate age. Please refer to your veterinarian and send Happy Tail Companions evidence of spay/neuter completion within one year of ownership.
Adoption Fees
A non-refundable 50% FEE will hold your puppy or your place on our adoption list.
Adoption Fee Final Payment
Final payment must be made prior to your puppy turning 6 weeks old unless paying in cash on day of pickup. No other payment method can be accepted on pick up day.
If your puppy is passed the age of 8 weeks at time of adoption, full payment takes the place of the initial placement/hold fee and must clear prior to picking up your new puppy. If paying cash at pickup, the standard $500 FEE must clear prior to puppy pickup and final cash payment.
Puppy Guarantee
To qualify for your puppy’s 3-year guarantee, you must have puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 1 week of the adoption date listed above. In order to maintain this guarantee, your puppy must receive their vaccinations to include Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza, and Parvo MLV. Please note Leptospira Bacterin vaccine is recommended. Please work with your vet when your puppy receives this vaccine in order to ensure proper after-care monitoring takes place. However, Happy Tail Companions will not be held responsible for reactions to it, nor reactions to any other vaccine. In addition to the above stated requirements, the buyer must provide proof of neuter/spay in order to maintain puppy health guarantee.
In the unlikely event that, during this first vet examination, your pup is found to be in poor genetic health, you may return the pup, accompanied by a written veterinarian statement of diagnosis and prognosis, within 7 days from the purchase date above for a REPLACEMENT PUPPY within a 1-year time period. Buyer is responsible for all costs associated with the veterinary exam and transportation costs related to the pup's return and the puppy is to be returned with all associated documentation/vaccination records, AKC registration papers etc.
Message to New Family
This puppy has received loving, proper and nurturing care. All pups have been examined by a licensed veterinarian prior to going home with their new owner(s). Happy Tail Companions does not guarantee against common and easily treated illnesses that may have been contracted after leaving Happy Tail Companions care nor through owner neglect. Happy Tail Companions shall not be responsible for factors beyond their control including, but not limited to the following: accidental death, sickness, poisoning, negligence, cruelty, return expenses, accidental injury, parasites, exposure to disease carrying animals, stress as a result of diet or environment, retained baby teeth, or cosmetic issues. Happy Tail Companions cannot guarantee adult size, color, temperament, and coat type.
If you are unable to care for or keep this puppy, you may return him/her with all veterinary records and registration papers at your expense. In this case, no refund will be given. Should a veterinarian find a life threatening hereditary or congenital disorder within 3 years of birth, you must supply two veterinarian’s written reports, on their stationary, within 7 days of diagnosis. All vet bills incurred by buyer during this time will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. Happy Tail Companions reserves the right to have any diagnosis verified by a veterinarian of our choice. Upon our veterinarian's findings and prognosis, your puppy may then be returned to us, at your expense, along with registration papers and all veterinarian records, Happy Tail Companions will replace the animal with an animal of like breed and value within 1 year from return date. This timeframe is necessary to allow us to schedule an opening. Failure to do the above will null and void any guarantee on the part of Happy Tail Companions. Please understand that such replacement is only valid when death or health problems are attributed directly to a life-threatening genetic disorder and not due to injury, contagious illness or neglect. In the tragic event of the puppy's death, a necropsy must be performed at the owner’s expense to determine the cause of death. Death must have been attributed to the diagnosed hereditary or congenital disorder. Please understand that all guarantees are invalid 3 years after birth and this warranty applies only to the original family/owner.
Because it is important to Happy Tail Companions that you and your puppy are happy, you are given a time frame of 1 full week to determine if this puppy will be a good fit. In the unlikely event that you need to return the puppy within the first 10 days, you agree to forfeit 1/2 the purchase price. This offer is applicable within the first week of adoption only. It is your responsibility to return the puppy, along with registration papers and any veterinarian records to Happy Tail Companions. Please remember that a puppy is a great responsibility. He or she will love you unconditionally and deserves the same in return. If, at any time, you are not able to keep, or properly care for this pet, you may return him or her, accompanied by this contract, all documentation, veterinary records, and their AKC registration. No refund will be given in this circumstance, but your havanese will always have a home.
